Sam Rockwell for 'The Hitcher' remake?

Sam Rockwell (Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy) is in talks to star in a remake of 1986 thriller The Hitcher, reports MTV.
The original starred C. Thomas Howell as a teen who unwisely picks up homicidal hitchhiker Rutger Hauer who sets him up for several murders.
The movie will be produced by Platinum Dunes, the company which has recently released remakes of The Amityville Horror and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre whilst music video director Dave Meyers will helm the project.
