Another Major League movie is reportedly in the works.

David S. Ward, the writer and producer of the original 1989 Major League, has said that he hopes to cast the first film's stars Charlie Sheen, Wesley Snipes and Tom Berenger in what he is calling Major League 3.

"We're actually talking about doing one right now. I've written, what I see, as Major League 3. We're putting that together as we speak," Ward told Moviehole.

The sequel's plot would involve Sheens's character Ricky 'Wild Thing' Vaughn coming out of retirement to work with a young player.

"We've actually got three new characters in the new film. And if the new film is popular, they could carry the franchise on," Ward added.

The director said that he has already spoken to Sheen about reprising the role of Wild Thing.

"He's excited to do it if and when it happens," Ward explained.

"But he can't shoot it this year, because he's back doing Two And A Half Men, but we could potentially shoot it next year - in his hiatus from the show."

Sheen and Berenger also starred in 1994's Major League 2.

The stars did not appear in a third film called Major League: Back to the Minors, released in 1998. Ward served as co-writer on the project.
