Kristen Stewart has admitted that she was relieved to be working with director David Slade on Eclipse.

The actress trusted Slade, who previously directed 30 Days of Night, with the darker tone of Twilight's final instalment.

"If you have to say, 'Yo, this story's not being told', it's really scary," she told MTV News.

"Then you're not focusing on [what you need to]. You should be able to look on your own thing, so we can rely on him on that level. He knows the story. He also gave us room to do our thing, because he realises there's a pretty established dynamic and you can't go changing it."

She added that Slade brought a fresh perspective to the film and was concerned with getting the correct look on screen.

"Yeah, I mean, David, he's really interesting to watch, technically, because he's obsessed with his camera. He loves it. It's comforting to know that things are being shot well."

Twilight: Eclipse opens in the US on June 30 and in the UK on July 8.
