3D 'Horrid Henry' movie in the works

A 3D movie based on the popular Horrid Henry children's books is in the works, it has emerged.

According to Deadline, production company Vertigo (StreetDance 3D) and Novel Entertainment are behind the picture, which begins production later this year.

Horrid Henry is said to be the most successful children's literary character in the UK behind Harry Potter.

Author Francesca Simon's books have previously been adapted for an animated TV series, a computer game and a stage show.

Filming is scheduled to start in October or November. No casting details have been reported.
