Angelina Jolie has joined the big-budget adaptation of epic poem Beowulf.
Directed by Robert Zemeckis the film will tell the story of the eponymous hero who saves the Danes from the monstrous Grendel, says the Hollywood Reporter. As with Zemeckis' The Polar Express, performance-capture technology will create computer-animated versions of the actors.
Also aboard the project are Ray Winstone, Crispin Glover, Anthony Hopkins, Robin Wright Penn, John Malkovich, Alison Lohman and Brendan Gleeson.
Jolie will play Grendel's (Glover) mother.
