Billy Bob Thornton has agreed to star in Warner Independent Pictures' drama The Astronaut Farmer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie centres on a farmer (Thornton) who dreams of achieving space flight and sets about constructing a rocket in his barn, sparking interest from his neghbours, the media and an unimpressed government.
Michael Polish will direct the picture written by himself and his brother Mark and shooting is due to begin next month in new Mexico.
