According to Deadline, the British actor is contracted for three superhero pictures, with his salary expected to rise to $1 million for the second movie and $2 million for the third.
The same contract terms were presented to the other finalists for the lead role, Jamie Bell, Alden Ehrenreich, Anton Yelchin, Aaron Johnson, Logan Lerman, Frank Dillane and Michael Angarano.
Garfield is said to have snagged the part after studio executives for Sony were impressed by his performance in David Fincher's upcoming Facebook drama The Social Network.
Spider-Man, which will be released in 3D, is slated to open in cinemas on July 3, 2012.
