The Crazies director told DS that his upcoming remake of 1981 original Escape From New York will not suffer from the same flaws as the poorly-received 1996 follow-up.
Eisner said: "The original was great, Escape From LA was terrible, I will not hesitate to say that, I thought that movie was awful! I think we can easily avoid the problems.
"We've a really good script and it's very similar to the original and it'll be true to the character Snake Plissken, but it's also very different because the times have changed dramatically. I'm really excited about the movie, I think it has the potential to bring a whole new audience."
Of his planned Flash Gordon reboot, he added: "We didn't actually option the rights to the '80s version, we optioned the initial comic book rights.
"The movie is very much based on the Alex Raymond strip from the '30s. It's not going to be campy and it's definitely not a remake of the English version."
