Sylvester Stallone has insisted that being injured on the set of a film is a "good omen".

The 63-year-old was recently advised to quit doing his own stunts after hurting himself while shooting The Expendables.

However, he insisted that his past movies have done well when he has injured himself during filming.

"It's a good omen. Every film I've done where I got injured has turned out great," he explained to Maxim.

"Rocky II was 60 stitches; Rocky III was a concussion; the last Rambo was a bruised artery. Ones where I come out unscathed? Disasters."

The Expendables will be released in the UK on August 20.
