'Dallas' movie casting possibilities
Published Wednesday, Sep 28 2005, 08:41 BST | By Daniel Saney
The cast of the upcoming Dallas movie adaptation is soon to be announced, once Sacha Gervasi delivers a rewrite of Robert Harling's script, says Variety.
John Travolta is the favourite to take on the role of J.R. Ewing, though the trade comments that it by no means certain that he will land the part. Both Mel Gibson and Kevin Costner are also in the running - Gibson has shown reluctance but has not actually turned the role down, whilst Costner wants to see the next draft of the script before making a decision.
Meanwhile, the identity of the actress to portray Sue Ellen is also uncertain. Catherine Zeta-Jones is looking likely, although there are also the possibilities of Demi Moore and Jennifer Lopez stepping in.
Drew Barrymore and Reese Witherspoon are the probable options for the role of Pamela, whilst Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson and Mandy Moore battle it out to play Lucy.
Finally, Matthew McConaughey and Owen Wilson are being mooted to play Bobby Ewing.
