Threepiece band The Wyrd Sisters are engaged in a legal battle with Warner Bros over their name being used in the upcoming movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
The next J.K. Rowling adaptation will see the appearance of a band of the same name, its members being played by Jarvis Cocker, formerly of Pulp, and Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood and Phil Selway.
Having traded under the 'The Wyrd Sisters' for the past 15 years, the real-life group are terrified that fans will get confused when the faces onscreen claiming to be The Wyrd Sisters are in fact members of the British indie scene rather than a Candian folk band.
Although Warner Bros have offered frontwoman Kym Baryluk $54,000 (£30,000) to share the name after the offer of $5,400 (£3,000) was turned down, she has declined the proposition.
Femalefirst.co.uk quote her as saying: "We're in a legal battle with Warner Bros over our band name. One of their lawyers contacted us and threatened to 'Have their army of lawyers shut us down' unless we agreed to share our band name with them.
"We thought that was a bit rude. We own the band name and have done for 15 years. We're very sad about this. We've had to cancel tours and delay the release of our new album.
"All of this because we're not sure if we can continue under our name any more."
