Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers; The Descent) has signed on to direct Doomsday for Rogue Pictures and Crystal Sky Pictures.
The movie will be a futuristic action thriller with a smattering of politics and will be set in England and Scotland.
Rogue's president of production told Variety: "It's in the vein of Mad Max set in the near future, when the world has become a very intense place to live. A disaster threatens the future of mankind, and a team of people have to stop it."
Production is slated to begin next spring in the UK.
