The movie centres on a young man who survives three tours of Iraq and counts his good fortune down to a photograph of an unknown woman he carries around with him. When he returns home from duty to North Carolina he attempts to track down the mystery woman.
Oscar-nominated Shine director Scott Hicks is attached to helm the movie based on a script by Will Fetters.
Previous Sparks novels to make it to the big screen include The Notebook and this year's releases Dear John and The Last Song.
