Harper's big screen directorial debut, along with blockbuster Inception, is the joint frontrunner with three nominations at DS's online awards. Scouting Book has nods in the 'Hidden Gem' and two acting categories for stars Thomas Turgoose and Holliday Grainger.
"I am thrilled that The Scouting Book For Boys has been nominated in three categories of the Digital Spy Movie Awards, and grateful for the coverage and warm reception we received," said Harper. "For a small film like ours it is this kind of support that really makes all the difference. I am particularly pleased that both the young leads of the film, Thomas Turgoose and Holliday Grainger, have been recognised. Thanks to all at Digital Spy!"
Screenwriter Jack Thorne added: "This is amazing. So proud to have as many nominations as Inception, my favourite film of the year so far. So incredibly proud that Holliday and Thomas's work has been rewarded, because they are both brilliant young actors. Thomas Turgoose vs. Leonardo DiCaprio has obviously been a battle that's been brewing for a while, the kid from This Is England versus the kid from Critters 3, the game is on.
"And as for being a 'Hidden Gem' - apart from giving me flashbacks to the Christopher Walken speech in Pulp Fiction - well, we can be unhidden, we're available at all good retail outlets."
Voting is currently open for the Movie Awards and will run until the end of August. The winners will be announced in October.
