Steve Carell is to write and star in his own comedy vehicle for Universal Pictures, reports Variety.
The studio have also acquired Juvenile, a pitch from Mark and Brian Gunn. Both ventures will be produced by Mary Parent and Scott Stuber along with Carell.
Carell will begin the script based on his own idea shortly. Meanwhile, Mark Gunn describes Juvenile: "The idea is for Steve to play the most Caucasian man in America, who's sent to juvenile prison for a petty crime he committed as a kid. Suddenly this suburban drip is surrounded by 11-year-old bad-asses."
The 40-Year-Old Virgin star is soon to start on Evan Almighty, a spin-off from Jim Carrey-starrer Bruce Almighty.
