Paramount Pictures has bought the screen rights to Black Monday, an upcoming novel by Bob Reiss, reports Variety.
Reiss' thriller, still to be completed, focuses on a federal investigator's endeavours to solve the mystery of a problem which is eroding the quality of crude oil. The agent's failure could bring the world to a halt.
Producer Tom Jacobson explained: "It is a very timely idea, and what works best about this is the way the consequences unfold both on a personal level as well as in the context of a global crisis."
