The film is to be directed by Jennifer's Body helmer Karyn Kusama, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The movie takes place in the world of hunting. Moretz will play a girl who gets lost in the wilderness and uses survival tips given to her by her father to survive.
Moretz is also starring in director Matt Reeves's Let Me In, opening in US cinemas on October 1.
