Breck Eisner has signed on to direct Universal's remake of 1954 horror Creature from the Black Lagoon, Variety has revealed.
Gary Ross, whose father, Arthur A. Ross, wrote the screenplay for the original, has written the latest draft and will produce the project.
The film will mark the second shot at feature directing by Eisner, son of Walt Disney executive Michael Eisner, following this year's Sahara.
The original featured Gill Man, the eponymous creature which harassed innocent archaeologists exploring in the Amazon.
