The former 3rd Rock From the Sun star joins Alicia Silverstone, Krysten Ritter and Sigourney Weaver in the film, directed by Amy Heckerling.
Silverstone and Ritter play two socialite vampires who find that love complicates their undead lives.
Johnston will play Mrs Van Helsing, the suspicious mother of Ritter's love interest, reports Coming Soon.
Richard Lewis also recently joined the movie's cast.
