Warner Independent Pictures and Cherry Road Films will remake The Man Who Fell To Earth, Variety reports.
The companies have acquired the remake rights to the 1977 film directed by Nicolas Roeg and also the rights to the novel on which it was based, written by Walter Tevis.
The original saw David Bowie star as an alien who comes to Earth in the guise of a businessman on a mission to gain water for his planet. Once here, he becomes embroiled in the greed of mankind as the head of a powerful international company.
