Scarlett Johansson and Colin Farrell have signed up to 15th Century Rome-based drama Borgia, Variety report.
The film chronicles a struggle for power amongst the Borgia family, the most ambitious family of the Renaissance. It tells the story of events flowing from the death of the Pope in 1492, with Cardinal Rodrigo Borgia the favourite to take the papal throne, despite a string of illegitimate children.
Upon his accession, a tale of betrayal and backstabbing ensues as Borgia sets about empowering and alienating family members.
Farrell will play Borgia's youngest son Cesare, whilst Johansson plays daughter Johansson.
Production is set to begin in April.
