Eric Lampaert has confirmed his brief appearance in John Landis's upcoming movie Burke & Hare.

The stand-up comedian, who is currently playing a joint set with Joel Dommett at Edinburgh, told DS that he enjoyed the "tiny" part he had been given in the film.

Lampaert said: "There's only five actors in the scene - Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Jessica [Hynes], me and one of the film's writers who had a cameo role. And obviously John Landis behind the camera. It was wonderful."

Asked about how he won the part, Lampaert explained: "The person that was doing the casting was John Landis, but I didn't know that! I went at it all like, 'Hey, you're alright, how you doing! I like your beard', just sort of flirting with him!

"I had to do the casting with another person in the room and when we walked out, the other guy said, 'Oh Eric, you were so confident with him'. I said, 'Well, y'know, it's just a casting, innit'. And he goes, 'But that was John Landis!'.

"My face dropped! I was like, 'Ah, bloody hell, I've ruined it'. But apparently he liked me, so that was nice... He's such a wonderful man, really brilliant and interesting - always telling stories."
