Goldenberg, whose credits also include Where The Wild Things Are and Peter Pan, will work on a screenplay for the superhero picture based on Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim's treatment, reports Variety.
Goldenberg reportedly did a rewrite on the first movie, which just completed production in New Orleans under Martin Campbell's direction.
Warner Bros is releasing Green Lantern on June 17, 2011 with Ryan Reynolds leading the cast as Hal Jordan, a maverick pilot who inherits a power ring and becomes an intergalactic guardian.
A recent report claimed that Warner Bros and DC Entertainment are looking to move quickly on the sequels and complete a Green Lantern trilogy by summer 2013.
