Germany's Constantin Films has acquired the animation rights to Edgar Rice Burroughs's Tarzan novels, reports Variety.
The studio is planning to release the upcoming English-language feature in 2012, the year of the character's 100th anniversary.
Constantin's Robert Kulzer and Reinhard Klooss are producing the film.
The Tarzan story has been adapted for the big screen several times. Disney released its hit animated version in 1999.
