New characters the Patil twins are set to make the new Harry Potter film Goblet of Fire a huge hit in Asia.
The twins will be played by Shefali Chowduhry and Afshan Azad, two second generation Bangladeshis living in London.
Originally, casters for the film went to schools in Bradford looking for Asian twins who would be suitable. Not having found what they were looking for, they looked more widely and at unrelated children. The pair that have been picked “just had fantastic chemistry,??? a Potter source said.
It is thought that their ethnicity will boost Potter's popularity in Asia: “With two south Asian girls grabbing important roles in the fourth film, it will impact the film’s fortunes very positively,??? says PVR Pictures vice president Kamal Gyanchandani.
