Von Trapps back together for DVD launch
Published Sunday, Nov 13 2005, 20:33 GMT | By Dave West
The stars of the legendary musical The Sound of Music have been reunited after 40 years.
Julie Andrews, whose stardom was secured by the 1965 film, has met up with the seven actors who played the von Trapp children.
They got together in New York for the launch of a special edition Sound of Music DVD.
Although Andrews is still a household name, most of the child-stars never made it big in acting.
Several feel that their fame as von Trapps served to hold them back.
Charmian Carr (Liesl) said: "The film never stopped for me - to the point where I didn't know if I was Charmian or Liesl.?
"I was kept under contract by the studio and I continued to promote the film,? she added. ?I resented Liesl for swamping me."
Duane Chase, 54, played Kurt aged 13. He hated the resulting fame and soon refused to talk about the film. Now he designs geological computer software.
