American Idol runner-up Jennifer Hudson has landed a role in Dreamgirls, according to the New York Daily News.
It had been rumoured that the show's winner Fantasia Barrino would play the part of Effie White in Bill Condon's adaptation of the award-winning musical, but the newspaper reports that he and co-producer David Geffen decided upon Hudson, despite star Jamie Foxx's hoping for Barrino.
Beyonce Knowles, Eddie Murphy and Danny Glover are also aboard the project.
