Jim Carrey, Tim Burton team up

Tim Burton is to direct Believe It Or Not, a movie about the adventures of Robert Ripley, Variety reports.

To be played by Jim Carrey, Ripley was an explorer and writer who created the Ripley's Believe It Or Not! series of books and newspaper columns. The movie will chronicle his international exploits in which he investigates the strangest people and objects the world has to offer, learning along the way that the people he comes across are more than mere oddities to be collected.

The film is being written by Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander, who have worked with with both Burton and Carrey previously, on Ed Wood and Man on the Moon respectively.

Paramount Pictures plans to begin work on the movie late next year with a view to a late 2007 release.
