Stanley Tucci has expressed admiration for director Joe Johnson's approach to shooting Captain America: The First Avenger.

The actor - who plays scientist Abraham Erskine in the adventure film - told MTV News that fans will appreciate the "stunning" design of the movie.

"Joe Johnston is a wonderful guy and I love the way he's shooting it, it's really interesting, it's beautiful-looking," he explained.

"There's a real power to it and the design is stunning."

Tucci went on to say how much he enjoyed his time on the project, which began preliminary filming earlier this summer.

"[It was] so much fun,. I have to go back and... finish it in October but I was there for a few weeks in... [the] end of July, August. It was great; a great experience.

"Chris [Evans, who plays Captain America] is great, he's a wonderful guy. Dominic [Cooper] and Hayley [Atwell] and Tommy Lee Jones - it's great people."

Captain America: The First Avenger hits cinemas worldwide on July 22, 2011.
