Leonardo DiCaprio has begun work on 11th Hour, a documentary in which he hopes to bring attention to the plight of the global environment.

Green-minded DiCaprio will write, narrate and produce the film, covering such issues as global warming. BBC News quote the actor as saying: "Global warming is not only the number one environmental challenge we face, but one of the most important issues facing all of humanity."

DiCaprio, who can next be seen in crime drama The Departed, hopes to release the film in 2006.
