Watts on huge 'Kong' excitement
Naomi Watts has revealed that she was so excited at the prospect of starring in the upcoming remake of King Kong that she signed on before reading a script.

Watts takes the lead female role of Ann Darrow in Peter Jackson's update and has now explained that she accepted the part on the strength of her faith in the Lord of the Rings director.

She told The Sun: "I was hugely excited when I got the call to come and meet Peter Jackson.

"When we met there was no script - but I think his work is great and agreed to do the movie before having read it! When I finally got the script, I just thought: 'Wow It's different to anything I've ever done before.'

"Although it's an event spectacle film, the characters have a huge amount of depth. Another one of the key things with me signing on for the movie was that Peter had lived with this film in his head since he was nine years old.

King Kong will be brought to our screens on December 16.
