According to The Playlist, Hardy is replacing Michael Fassbender who was originally attached to star in the picture. Fassbender reportedly left to appear as Magneto in X-Men: First Class.
Hardy has won the role of 'Tricky' Ricky Tarr, a Cold War-era British Operative. The actor joins Gary Oldman, Ralph Fiennes, Colin Firth, Jared Harris and Benedict Cumberbatch in the movie.
Let The Right One In director Thomas Alfredson is helming the film, which is scheduled to open in US cinemas in 2012.
