The Last Exorcism producer, who earned notoriety for directing the 2005 film Hostel, insisted that critics cannot appreciate his movies because they share no interest in enjoying or "understanding" a slasher film.
According to Contactmusic, the 38-year-old said: "I think the term 'torture porn'... says more about the critics than it does about the film, and their complete lack of understanding or frankly interest in those types of movies."
Roth recently revealed that he is keen to produce a horror-based series for television similar to The Twilight Zone.
