Woody Allen loves London light

Director Woody Allen has commented in a recent interview that he loves to film in Britain - because he loves the weather.

Curiously, the diminutive director loves Britain's grey skies and cold climate. "The weather was absolutely superb for photography. Grey skies photograph beautifully, the light it casts is very soft," he commented at the premier of his latest movie, Match Point. "Filming in New York can be so hot in the summer but here it was perfect for my melancholy spirit."

Match Point has been heralded as Woody's return to former glory after a number of his recent works have been criticised for failing to live up to some of his Oscar winning comedies.

Match Point has received four Golden Globe nominations; Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress.
