According to The Globe And Mail, the singer and actress has been reading a script titled 'Spiderman' with a character called 'Girl' highlighted in yellow.
Last month, it was revealed that Emma Roberts, Teresa Palmer, Ophelia Lovibond, Imogen Poots and Lily Collins were auditioning to play the love interest opposite Andrew Garfield's webslinger.
The female lead is reportedly not Mary Jane Watson, the character portrayed by Kirsten Dunst in the previous Spider-Man films.
Duff's movie credits include Cheaper By The Dozen, A Cinderella Story and War, Inc.
