The Oscar-winning director released Avatar: Special Edition in cinemas last month, incorporating nine minutes of additional footage into the original cinematic version. A final director's cut is scheduled to be released on DVD in November, with another seven-minute extension.
Cameron told Total Film that November's release is the final working of the 3D epic that he will be involved in. He said: "No, I'm not going back to this.
"There's no revisiting this downstream, and I don't see it coming back into theatres at all unless 20 years from now they want to do something and I'm a doddering old guy that can't stop them."
A sequel to Avatar is currently slated for a 2014 release date.
