
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was 2005's most successful film in the UK, figures compiled by Screen International have revealed.
With takings of £43m over the year, the fourth J.K. Rowling adaptation in the series so far stands £4m ahead of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith with £39.3m.
After less than a month of release, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The WItch and The Wardrobe is in eighth place with £20.5m, but is expected to rise before the year is over. Similarly, King Kong is sure to climb from its current place at nineteen over the next week.
Last year's Harry Potter instalment, The Prisoner of Azkaban, was 2004's second-biggest movie, following Shrek 2.
