Several literary adaptations made for television, and featuring such actors as Sir Sean Connery and Dame Maggie Smith, have been found by a researcher in the Library of Congress.
The numerous recordings have now been handed over to the British Film Institute (BFI), which will show them at their 'Missing, Believed Wiped' festival on November 7.
BFI curator Steve Bryant said: "This is by far the largest and most significant collection of programmes we have found."
Connery stars with Dorothy Tutin in a version of Jean Anouilh's Colombe from 1960, while Leonard Rossiter and Sir Derek Jacobi appear in other works.
