Edward Norton has described comments made by Marvel production chief Kevin Feige regarding his departure from The Avengers as "disingenuous".

Feige previously dismissed Norton's role in the franchise, saying that the company wanted a "team player" and that the actor lacked "creativity and collaborative spirit".

However, Norton insisted that he has no hard feelings towards Feige or anyone at Marvel.

"The thing that was disingenuous about some of the stuff that had gone on, is it was a very professional and very respectful business situation," he told MTV News.

"We really couldn't work it out on a business level, and I know that's disappointing to some people, but it's nobody's fault. I don't have any disrespect for anybody's decisions in the business framework. You do what you feel you need to do on both sides, and that's totally fine."

He added: "I have no idea why anybody tried to characterise it as anything other than that kind of a decision, which is absolutely what it was."

The Avengers opens May 4, 2011.
