The project comes from writer-director Tina Gordon Chism, who wrote the hit comedy Drumline, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The story centres on a child psychologist (Robinson) who visits his girlfriend (Washington) at a family reunion only to find that the family members are in desperate need of therapy.
Production on the Lionsgate film is scheduled to begin in November in Connecticut.
Washington is also starring in Tyler Perry's For Coloured Girls. Robinson is a cast member of NBC's The Office and recently appeared in Hot Tub Time Machine. Greer was last seen in Dance Flick and Astro Boy.
