According to the Los Angeles Times, the film is based on Orson Scott Card's classic science fiction novel of the same name.
The book takes place on a world where humans are facing a threat from an alien race called the Formics. The story centres on Andrew Wiggin, also known as Ender, a young soldier who helps save the Earth.
No production start date has been announced for the Odd Lot Entertainment project.
Hood also directed the Academy Award-nominated 2005 drama Tsotsi.
