Earlier this year, plans for a sequel to Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy were abandoned, as Ferrell later said that the cast's wage bill was of concern to the studio.
However, this month director Adam McKay made comments to Collider which suggested that the studio was reconsidering its position after outcry from the original movie's fans.
In an interview with MTV, Ferrell denied that negotiations for a sequel had restarted, saying: "Paramount, which is owned by your parent company, Viacom... they seem indifferent to any sort of public outcry for this.
"It's very flattering to us. We love it, but apparently, they don't care."
