Speaking to The Times, the Made In Dagenham star responded to the labels regularly attached to her, such as "ethereally pretty" and "posh", by criticising those who make snap judgements about her character.
"Why are people so f**king misguided? Is it because I don't fit in a bracket? Is that the problem? I don't actually fit into anything," she said.
"Instead, I'm someone who analyses everything and observes people closely, because that's my job. And when people don't afford me the same courtesy that p*sses me off."
Pike further explained that she quickly grew attached to her Made In Dagenham character Lisa Hopkins, as she too finds herself being constantly scrutinised.
"I identify with Lisa. And when she asks [Sally Hawkins's character] Rita, 'Do you know who I actually am?' that's a question to which I feel really connected."
Pike has recently been cast in spoof spy sequel Johnny English Reborn alongside Rowan Atkinson and Gillian Anderson.
