Natalie Portman has said that she would star in a sequel to Léon if Luc Besson returned to direct.

Besson helmed the 1994 action drama starring a young Portman and Jean Reno. The film marked Portman's first major movie role.

A script has been written for a sequel, but Besson has reportedly refused to direct a follow-up.

Speaking to MTV, Portman recently said: "I have never read it because Luc won't direct it himself, and so I'm only interested if he [directs]."

She added: "I told him if he would do it himself, I would do it in two seconds. But he won't, so…"

Portman was promoting her new film Black Swan at the Toronto Film Festival last week.
