Menke was best known for being a close friend of director Quentin Tarantino and for editing all of his films.
She was twice nominated for an Academy Award for 'Film Editing', once in 1994 for Pulp Fiction, and more recently for Tarantino's last film Inglorious Basterds.
Empire reports that Menke was discovered early on Tuesday but that the cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
It is unknown whether the recent heatwave in Los Angeles may have been a factor.
Menke's last film work was on recent thriller Peacock which starred Cillian Murphy and Ellen Page.
