The classic family film, which starred Eric Bana, Charles 'Bud' Tingwell and Michael Caton, was created by the Working Dog production company 13 years ago.
The Daily Telegraph reports that shooting on 25, which stars Sea Patrol actor Josh Lawson, Home and Away's Christian Clark and newcomer Dan Henshall, begins next month.
The comedy movie is reportedly about three young men and will be set in Melbourne's Central Business District.
Executive producer Michael Hirsh said of the characters: "They are young and they go to the various restaurants, bars and places that young people go in Melbourne."
