The Hollywood Reporter claims that Scott will join Jay Baruchel, Alison Pill and Marc-Andrew Grondin for the film, which tells the story of a bouncer blessed with the 'fist of God' who joins a losing hockey team to help them start winning.
The script was inspired by Doug Smith and Adam Frattasio's novel Goon: The True Story Of An Unlikely Journey Into Minor League Hockey and has been written by Evan Goldberg and Jay Baruchel.
Goon will reportedly begin filming this October, with a release date still to be confirmed.
Scott is best known for his appearances as Steve Stifler in the American Pie film series, and will reportedly reprise his role in 2012 for the forthcoming American Pie 4.
