Published Tuesday, Oct 5 2010, 19:29 BST | By Mike Moody
The new versions, on DVD and Blu-ray, will feature 45 minutes of footage not seen in the theatrical edition plus 36 more minutes of footage than the previous home video release, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The discs will also include new special features.
"I told our team - let's do the ultimate boxset of Avatar, with everything in it the fans could possibly want," director James Cameron said.
He added: "There's an extended length cut that's 16 minutes longer, plus documentaries, behind-the-scenes featurettes, artwork and over 45 minutes of deleted scenes. Everything worth putting into a special edition is in this set."
The special editions will be released on November 16 in the US and November 15 in the UK.
A 3D Blu-ray version of the movie will not be released until 2011.
