Sam Raimi has signed on to direct an adaptation of best-selling author Terry Pratchett's The Wee Free Men.
Part of Pratchett's Disc World series, the fantasy novel tells the story of a 9-year-old farm girl who travels to a parallel world in the hope of retrieving her brother who has been taken by a malevolent fairy queen. Whilst there, she joins forces with a band of tiny men to battle the monsters standing between her and her goal.
Pamela Petter (Tim Burton's Corpse Bride) will write the script for Sony Pictures Entertainment, whilst Raimi will produce the picture along with Josh Donen.
Raimi begins production on the third Spider-Man movie this month, reports Variety.
