Cannibal film opposed by man-eater

German cannibal Armin Meiwes has made legal moves to stop a movie that he alleges is based on him from being released.
Meiwes was sentenced to eight and a half years for eating a man that he had met over the internet, and believes that Butterfly: A Grimm Love Story is based directly on his tale.
The film, due for release in Germany on March 9th, tells the story of a student who becomes interested in the internet cannibal community after researching a jailed man-eater for her thesis.
Meiwes' lawyer, Harald Ermel, has slammed the movie as a "slavish re-enactment" of real-life events and claims that it depicts a "false and stigmatized" version of events which could prejudice the second stage of Meiwes' trial, beginning Thursday.
Meiwes has given Hamburg production company Stampfwerk the rights to make a 90-minute documentary on himself and his trial.
